Biography
Prof. Abid Azhar is a Professor & Co-Director General at Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), University of Karachi, Karachi. He holds a PhD from Molecular Medicine Division, John Curtin School of Medical Research, The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. He achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics, 1984, University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. He obtained an M Sc in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. He obtained a BSc (Honours) in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. His Research Interests are Environmental pollution & risks for health in disease of Pakistani population, Genetic disorders of blood coagulation & fibrinolysis, Fibrinogen-fibrin conversion & structure of fibrin network, Role of fibrin in atherogenesis, Male & female infertility & role of serum leptin, Biochemical bone markers & osteoporosis Inhibitors and Purification and characterization of commercially important enzymes from microorganisms
