Biography
Mrs. Aicha Afifi, Minister Plenipotentiary, is a senior diplomat who has served as a highly ranked public servant in many ministries including the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Morocco for many years. She has extensive professional and academic experience in Morocco and the United States including 38 years in public administration, management, diplomacy, research, feasibility studies, project management, teaching, international development and gender issues. She has participated in many international conferences, summits and sessions of the United Nations General Assembly. She is fluent in French, Arabic and English, plus other dialects. She is a former member of the Advisory Committee on the Administrative and Budgetary Questions of the United Nations, New York; former Deputy Chief of Mission, at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Washington D.C.; former charge d’Affaires a.i interim, at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UN, New York; and former Chair of G77 and China, Fifth committee of the GA. She hold PhD in management and economics. Mrs. Afifi was educated in both Morocco and the United States; she holds several degrees in different fields: law, management, economics, public finance, government contracting and politics from Moroccan University and Higher Institutes and American university. She is the co-author of the women’s chapter, a worldwide project on women and politics funded by UNESCO and the Ford Foundation and published by Yale University Press, United States; author of application of marketing approach such as Social marketing to family planning in Morocco; and published several articles, inter alia: motivation, management by objectives; strategic planning applied to public policies.
