Biography
Dr. Hosein was a high school dropout. He pursued O’ levels and A’ levels on his own after which he came to UWI, St Augustine. At UWI he pursued a BSc in Economics. Persistence and hard work paid off as Dr Hosein was awarded a scholarship to attend Cambridge University where he obtained his PhD in Economics (with an emphasis on International Trade Theory). After graduating in 2000 he joined the Department of Economics at The University of West Indies and has been an active member of the Department since then. He is responsible for undergraduate courses in Mathematics and International trade and for postgraduate courses in International Trade Theory. Dr Hosein’s research interests focus heavily on international trade with emphasis on Caribbean Issues.
