Biography
Roudaina Al Khani, Architect MAA, urban & development planner DEA PHD. Founder and Director of Platforms for sustainable cities and regions ltd., London. Roudaina has extensive experiences in sustainable urban and regional development, integrated and strategic planning from North Europe and the Middle East from local governments, consultancy, NGOs and research. Among her works in Denmark is leading a statement report to a new thinking Copenhagen City Development Strategy based on sustainability and her work on Agenda 21. She advised German International Cooperation on transferring sustainable development experiences to Syria and assessment of urban planning, legal and institutional capacity. She was a high-level advisor on planning and sustainability at all levels to Syrian Presidency in 2009-2011. Her waterfronts Ph.D. research made a vital contribution to city planning and urban revitalisation research and to integrated sustainable development approaches. It led to her appointment as member of Scientific Committee of International Association Cities and Ports. Roudaina is a lecturer and workshop leader. Among her publications is “Planning for More Inclusive Cities”, IFHP’s Congress, Sweden. Architect, Damascus University.
