Biography
Randrianarivelo Julia is a leader in sustainable fisheries, gender equity, and rural development in Madagascar. As Regional Chief of Blue Economy Services at the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy, she promotes innovative fish preservation techniques, introducing the Himono Japanese drying method to extend shelf life, reduce post-harvest losses, and empower rural women. A USDA Scientific Exchange Fellow and AWARD recipient, she actively advocates for gender equality in the blue economy and supports women’s cooperatives. Julia is committed to environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, and strengthening Madagascar’s seafood industry in the Indian Ocean region.
