Biography
Hla is a Sudanese, chevening Scholar currently pursuing a master’s degree in Media Practice for Development and Social Change at the University of Sussex. She is a communications practitioner and researcher with a strong focus on gender, sustainable development, and social justice. Hla has worked with national and international organizations in Sudan, including UN Women and the Sudanese transitional government, contributing to projects on women’s rights, peacebuilding, and transitional justice. She brings academic and professional experience in media, strategic communication, and international development. Fluent in both Arabic and English, Hla uses storytelling, research, and advocacy to amplify underrepresented voices and promote inclusive, locally driven solutions across the Global South.
Hla holds a bachelor's degree in Management Studies with a specialization in Management Information Systems from Ahfad University for Women in Sudan. She also pursuing a Master of Science in Peace, Gender and Development, as well as, she is pursuing an MA in Media Practice for Development and Social Change at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, as a Chevening Scholar.
