Biography
Nik Hashim Nik Mustapha is a professor and the head of Department of Economics, Faculty of Management and Economics, University of Malaysia Terengganu. He obtained the degrees of Bachelor of Economics (Honors) and Master of Agricultural Science from University of Malaya, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Natural Resource Economics from Washington State University under the Hay Fulbright Scholarship program. He has been teaching courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels in microeconomics, natural resource and environmental economics, research methodology, agricultural economics, production economics, development economics, fisheries economics, and economic valuation of the environment. He has supervised more than 15 PhD (by research)students and was appointed as an external examiner for numerous Masters and PhD theses. He has published extensively in reputed international journals and completed many locally and externally funded research projects in various capacities. His research areas include transportation model, portfolio analysis, and productivity and efficiency analysis, especially ‘stochastic frontier’ and ‘data envelopment analysis’ (DEA), ‘total factor productivity growth’ (TFPG), ‘steady state and inter-temporal optimization’, and ‘applied econometrics’.
