Description
Sowsan Fareed Ahmed Atabani is a graduate of the Medical School, University of Khartoum and obtained a PhD in Viral Immunology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is a fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. She is a clinical virologist and the clinical lead for Virology at the Public Health England (PHE) Birmingham laboratory and the Virology lead for the West Midlands Hepatitis Operational Delivery Network (ODN). She has worked extensively, both nationally and internationally, on the clinical and laboratory diagnosis and immunopathogenesis of viruses of public health importance such as measles, middle eastern respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), hepatitis C and more recently, SARS-CoV-2.
