Biography
Dr. Raymond Mark Kirton is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of International Relations, The University of The West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad, where he teaches graduate courses in the Global Studies programme. Born in Guyana, he is a graduate of the University of Guyana, BA with Distinction and completed an MSc degree at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., U.S.A. He also holds a PhD degree from the University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A. Dr. Kirton has served as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Guyana and has also lectured at the University of Florida, Anton de Kom University of Suriname, and The Federal University of Roraima. He has co-edited (with Dr. Cedric Grant) a book, “Governance, Conflict Analysis and Conflict Resolution” and his current research interests include foreign policymaking in Latin American states, democracy and development in the Caribbean
