Biography
Dr Sanae Salmi is a Legal Advisor and Program Manager operating within a strategic partnership between the Moroccan Organization for Human Rights and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. A highly experienced field expert and academic in migration, asylum, and human rights, Dr Salmi brings over a decade of leadership in designing and implementing rights-based protection programs. Her work lies at the intersection of legal expertise, humanitarian action, and policy engagement, with a strong focus on advancing inclusive and sustainable protection systems. She specializes in protection frameworks, refugee integration, and the prevention of gender-based violence, with a particular emphasis on migrant women and asylum seekers. Through her work, she has contributed to strengthening access to justice, enhancing service delivery mechanisms, and promoting coordinated, multi-stakeholder responses to complex migration challenges.
Dr Salmi is also a doctoral researcher in public law, focusing on human rights and democracy. Her research critically examines the role of civil society organizations in migration governance, bridging the gap between theory and practice to inform evidence-based policies and innovative interventions. Driven by a strong commitment to equity, dignity, and social justice, she actively contributes to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of reducing inequalities, promoting gender equality, and strengthening institutions.
