Biography
I have been a full professor of Natural Resources Management (NRs) and Livelihoods at the University of Khartoum since 2017. My research focuses on the intersection of natural resources and rural livelihoods, with particular expertise in analyzing the relationship between NRs and poverty at the micro level. I have conducted extensive studies on forest product markets and their impacts on rural communities, as well as value chain analysis of non-timber forest products (NTFPs). My work also includes the economic valuation of forest and tree products, assessment of forest dependency, and the development of rural livelihood strategies. I specialize in empirical data collection methods and have carried out numerous socioeconomic surveys across Eastern and Southern Africa. Through this research, I aim to inform sustainable natural resource management practices and improve the livelihoods of resource-dependent communities. My academic and field experience supports policy development and capacity-building efforts in the region.
