Biography
Angel is a PhD student in Civil Engineering at University College Dublin in Ireland, focusing on structural health monitoring and vibration control for floating offshore wind turbines. His research explores how AI and data from real systems can help detect faults and improve the maintenance of wind energy assets. Before this, he completed a master's in Mechatronic Engineering through the Erasmus Mundus program, studying in Egypt, Spain, and Germany. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering from ESPOL in Ecuador. Over the years, Angel has published research on AI, SHM, fault prognosis, and renewable energy technologies, especially wind energy. He has contributed to more than 20 peer-reviewed papers, with most as first author, and several in top-tier journals and conferences. He is also involved in research grants on offshore wind systems and hydrogen fuel cells. Likewise, Angel is passionate about using engineering and data to support a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
