Biography
Khalid J. Al-Naama currently serves as the Director of the Family Research and Policy Department at the Doha International Family Institute (DIFI). He possesses a robust background in family care and sexual health policies. Khalid has previously collaborated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within the Ministry of Public Health and has significantly contributed to policy development at Qatar Gas, focusing on crisis communication and employee technical competencies.
Khalid gained public recognition as a television anchor on Al-Rayan TV, where he led several programs aimed at raising awareness about mental health and other social issues impacting family well-being. Academically, Khalid holds a postgraduate qualification in applied psychology and a PhD in psychology from the University of Huddersfield, UK. His research has been featured in esteemed journals such as the International Journal of Technology and Management and ResearchGate. He has also presented a scientific poster at the Fifth International Conference of the Arab Society for Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine.
Khalid's primary focus and contributions to knowledge revolve around women's empowerment and the prevention of domestic abuse, including addressing the hidden aspects of economic abuse. He has been involved in several initiatives and ongoing research on family well-being, climate change, work-life balance, and equipping youth with essential social skills in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and other key institutions in Qatar.
As a fellow at the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism Program, Khalid participated in a 2007 World Health Organization conference in Egypt. There, he discussed the National System Policy of Qatar, detailing best practices for preventing foodborne outbreaks, current statuses, achievements, and challenges in the Arab region, particularly emphasizing the climate-related challenges of food preservation.
Khalid has actively led discussion groups with human rights representatives, addressing how societal perspectives can influence belief systems towards modern parenting styles, ultimately aiming to protect family well-being. Additionally, he delivered a notable speech at the annual forum of the Somali Community in Qatar in 2017, which was attended by representatives from the Somali Embassy. His talk focused on the importance of child welfare, quality education, and healthy parenting, emphasizing their roles in achieving mental health and overall well-being.
