Dr Tahani Elagib (Agricultural Research Corporation) Sudan

Plant Breeder – Agricultural Biotechnology, I have hands-on experience in various aspects of agricultural biotechnology and biosafety including research and regulation. I significantly contributed to evaluation and release of Bt-cotton varieties for commercial production in Sudan with positive impact on the national economy. I represent Sudan in the International Cotton Research Association (ICRA) as Executive Committee member. I contribute to capacity building and training of farmers and rural women supporting achievement of sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am a member in a number of prfessional societies, such as Sudanese National Academy of Sciences (SNAS) and the International Cotton Genome Initiative (ICGI). I have been consultant with some regional and international institutions including FAO and COMESA. Substantial experience in providing scientific, technical and managerial leadership to research programs.
