Biography
Haroon is a Senior Scientist and Regional Coordinator for East Africa at the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI), based in Nairobi, Kenya. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Sustainable Agriculture from Iowa State University (2009), an MSc in Agricultural Extension Education, and a BSc in Agriculture, both from Makerere University, Uganda. With over 15 years of experience in agricultural research and development, Haroon specializes in technology scaling, climate-smart agriculture, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building. He previously served as Scientist – Technology Scaling at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) for 11 years, leading multi-country programs across East and Southern Africa. He has managed grants exceeding US$40 million and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Haroon is fluent in English and Swahili.
