Biography
Helen Medina joined Nestlé in February 2017 and was appointed the role of Senior Public Affairs Manager, Government and Multilateral Relations. She is responsible for building internal government and multilateral organisation relationships and engagement plans coordinating across functions, markets and globally managed businesses. She is also responsible for the implementation and communication of partnerships. Helen joined Nestlé from the US Council for International Business where she led work on, food and agriculture, health care, product policy and intellectual property. During her tenure at USCIB, Helen identified and tracked issues of concern to the corporate community by developing and maintaining strong relationships and channels of communication with a variety of global business organization (ICC, IOE, Business at the OECD) foreign government officials and multilateral organizations such as the UN, OECD and APEC. In consultation with corporate representatives, Helen drafted advocacy positions and statements which reflected business priorities. She also represented business priority views at international forums such as the FAO, SAICM, OECD, and Committee on World Security, and helped to prepare and provide staff support for business delegations to these meetings. Prior to joining USCIB in 2008, Helen was assistant director for international affairs at the International Dairy Foods Association in Washington, D.C., where she promoted US dairy interests in free trade discussions, including the World Trade Organization Doha Round negotiations, and represented the dairy industry before US Congress on a variety of trade issues. Previously, she was a trade consultant for Consultants International Group in Washington, D.C. and also worked at the US Consulate General in Florence, Italy. Helen holds a master’s degree in international economics and international relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, where she studied for a year in Bologna, Italy.
