Biography

Dr. Munkhdulam Otgonbayar is an applied physics–ecology and environmental scientist specializing in landscape change, land degradation assessment, landscape ecology, and remote sensing–based environmental analysis. She currently serves as Head of the Division of Physical Geography at the Institute of Geography and Geoecology, Mongolian Academy of Sciences. She obtained her Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from Nagoya University, Japan, and has international research experience as a visiting researcher at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna. Her research integrates Earth observation data, GIS, machine learning, and spatial modeling to evaluate land suitability and land resources, rangeland ecosystems, climate impacts, soil organic carbon modeling, and ecosystem services. Dr. Otgonbayar has involved to numerous national and international projects funded by organizations such as UNDP, UNICEF, MCA-Mongolia and government agencies, focusing on physical geography, environmental change, and sustainable land management. She actively contributes to scientific capacity building, peer review, and international environmental collaboration.
