Biography
Prof. Ahmad Kayed is the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at Sohar University, Oman, and a Full Professor of Computer Science with more than 35 years of distinguished experience in academia, research, quality assurance, and the IT industry. He earned his PhD in Computer Science and Information Technology from the University of Queensland, Australia (2003), and previously worked at Monash University. He currently serves as Dean of FCIT at Sohar University.
Prof. Kayed is a leading expert in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Computer Engineering, with more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and extensive supervision of PhD and MSc candidates. His research spans cloud computing, database security, and semantic technologies.
He has a strong and sustained track record in quality assurance, program accreditation, external evaluation, PSA development, and institutional review, working across Oman, the UAE, KSA, Jordan, and Australia. His QA expertise includes ABET (USA), Australian academic frameworks, OAAAQA standards (Oman), and evaluation systems in the UAE and KSA.
Prof. Kayed has developed, reviewed, and evaluated a wide range of academic programs in IT, CS, and Computer Engineering. He has also advanced interdisciplinary innovation by integrating Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity into fields such as education, law, and business.
He is widely recognized as an expert external reviewer by universities and accreditation bodies regionally and internationally.
