Dr. Raheem has received her Ph.D. in Construction Management from the University of Florida (UF). She holds multiple master’s degrees in Building Construction, Environmental Engineering, and Civil Engineering from UF. She is serving as an Assistant Professor and Director of the Construction Safety Program at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP). Dr. Raheem is also an invited member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability and College of Engineering representative for the Academic Innovation Advisory Council at UTEP. Dr. Raheem has a research portfolio of more than $3 million with projects funded by various U.S. federal agencies and non-profit organizations such as the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), U.S. Department of State (DOS), U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), 100,000 Strong in the Americas and VentureWell. She has been working with various professional organizations in the capacity of an expert reviewer such as the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Technology Commercialization Fund (TCF), DOE-NE's Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research- Construction Group, and Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (managed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) for DOE). Her research interests include sustainable cities, construction safety, construction management, and sustainable construction (with emphasis on utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy simulation tools & techniques). Dr. Raheem has received several prestigious national and regional awards recognizing her academic passion and professional achievements including the 2016 ASCE Excellence in Civil Engineering Education (ExCEEd) Fellowship, 2020 UTEP College of Engineering Award for Teaching Excellence, 2020 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers STAR Award for Educator of the Year, and 2021 American Society of Engineering Education-GSW section Award for Outstanding Young Faculty. Dr. Raheem has established two student chapters at UTEP and served as the faculty advisor for these chapters including Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and Associated Schools of Construction (ASC). She is an Envision™ Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), a certified associate member of the Design-Build Institute of America (Assoc. DBIA™) and an OSHA certified Master Trainer.
