Biography
A clinician and educator with interest in the promotion and preservation of core traditional bedside skills of history and physical examination in clinical medicine, I have taught and assessed young doctors' bedside skills in over 20 different countries. The decline of these skills is contributing to the over use of expensive and potentially harmful technological aids to treatment and diagnosis in medicine. The continued proliferation of their use may render healthcare costs unsustainable for many developed and emerging economies. With colleagues in Stanford Medical School, California, I seek to raise the profile of this issue.
