Description
Prof. Venkatesh Dutta is a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow and a British Chevening Scholar. He has contributed to significant changes in public discourse, law and policy for sustainable water resource management in India. His research interests span environmental management with particular emphasis on Water Policy, Catchment Planning, River Restoration and Eco-hydrology. Dr. Dutta holds PhD from Faculty of Policy and Planning, TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi with major research focus on water resource management. He did his post-doctoral research at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland, USA. He is currently working as Professor of Environmental Science at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (Central) University, Lucknow. He was instrumental in drafting Groundwater Management Bill for Uttar Pradesh and served as a member of the drafting committee of the State Water Policy. He also sits in the state-level committee on river restoration and contributes towards rejuvenation of rivers in Uttar Pradesh.
